Customs: Extension to the Former Yougoslav Republic of Macedonia

Customs: Extension to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia of the Conventions on a common transit procedure and on the simplification of formalities in trade in goods

By their decisions No 1/2015 the EU-EFTA Joint Committees on a common transit procedure and on the simplification of formalities in trade in goods invited the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to accede to the 20 May 1987 Conventions on a common transit procedure and on the simplification of formalities in trade in goods. See the EU Official Journal L 132 of 29 May 2015 on page 78.

The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has deposited its instrument of accession on 28 May 2015 and therefore joins the conventions on 1 July 2015. This means that common transit operations between the existing contracting parties (the EU, the EFTA countries and and Turkey) and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia can begin from this date. This extension will bring major simplifications for economic operators engaged in trade between the contracting parties.

For more information on the two conventions, see the transit page and the SAD (single administrative document) page of our website.
